Living on Island Time

Tofino, British Columbia, Canada
August 25 – September 1, 2012

But First There's Victoria

We took a small plane over to Victoria from Vancouver that was powered by propellers. Victoria was a temporary stop while we waited for the Tofino bus the next day. It was a much slower city than home. Brittany and I went out for a fish and chips dinner at Red Fish Blue Fish. The line up was huge, like, really huge. But it was completely worth it.

Modern Studio Suite in the Trees

AirBnb helped us find this great place just outside of Tofino. The hosts provided bikes which we used everyday, Chesterman beach was nearby and they had a friendly dog that would visit.

The Beaches

Chesterman, MacKenzie and Cox bay

Visiting the Rainforest

By Kayak

We made our way to Meare’s island and walked through dense old growth forest and admired it. Nurse logs created the ideal conditions for more life. The newborn trees were standing upon the shoulders of giant red cedars.

Barefoot on the beach.

Long shadows on Chesterman.

The Sun Sets

This was the last sunset of the trip. One of the bus drivers in Tofino told us about this rocky spot on Chesterman beach. We climbed up and watched it set.
